Plein air Painting Header

In the open air, en plein air, I painting initially and primarily intuitively by responding to a visceral encounter with the environment.  While seeing, smelling feeling the earth, air, fire and water of our environment, I deeply impressed emotionally, psychologically and spiritually In a way that would be difficult to describe. As I reflects on the wonderful intricacy of my place in the environment,  I experience a sense of wonder at the intricate design. I would say I feel a sense of the sacred.  I feel free and clear minded again because I am able to leave behind Madison Avenue manufactured definitions for life  While out in the natural environment, I see the big picture, remembering that at each and every moment of every day there is a sunrise and sunset, non-stop around the circle of the earth.  En Plein air, I look down at my feet and hear the crunch of leaves or snow.  I see each snow flake as it truly is, unique.  This design is not random. Being out in creation is a sublime experience for me.

In sacred manner may we walk, Upon the fair and loving earth, In beauty move, in beauty love For It is a gift to us this dirt that brought us Birth Through breath from Above.
We stand on Holy Ground.
