Bottle with Glass and Green Grapes

A bottle and glass catch the light above a cluster of green grapes. Rich red fabric and lively oil brushwork give this still life warmth and visual richness.

Bottle with Glass and Green Grapes sets reflective glassware above a cluster of fresh green grapes on richly colored red fabric. The pale bottle and rounded glass catch bright highlights, while the grapes spread across a tray in the foreground. Golden accents and a diagonally placed knife add contrasting shapes along the edge of the arrangement.

Judith Reidy uses oil paint to explore the difference between transparent glass, rounded fruit, and folded cloth. Warm reflections glow within the glass, while cool gray and blue passages give the background depth. The red fabric links the objects and provides a bold setting for the lighter greens and pale reflections.

The painting balances the height of the bottle with the low, clustered fruit and the angled tray. Its expressive brushwork keeps the scene lively while preserving the intimacy of a small tabletop view. It invites a closer look at everyday materials and the way a few well-placed highlights can bring them to life.
